Grosvenor Casino

Style: Casino  Location: Birmingham Broad Street

Price: ££ (£13.50 for salmon main)

The venue

I was recently invited to try out the food at Grosvenor Casino, but while I was there I also tried out the 'fun' roulette table. Myself and my fellow bloggers had great fun trying out the game without the pressure of playing for money.

While you're there, you can order drinks at the bar or to your table and head to the restaurant for dinner.

Drinks

There's a good selection of spirits; I enjoyed a couple of Tanqueray gin and tonics. During dinner, we enjoyed a lovely bottle of Malbec.

Food

I was pleased to find a varied menu- not just pub food. We started by sharing Bread and Olives (£3.50) which came with a variety of breads and lovely olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

I had an urge for prawns, so I chose Tempura Chipotle Prawns (£6.25) tempura battered prawns, with salad and chilli dressing. I can't say I got the chipotle but I enjoyed having the freshness of the cucumber against the crispy tempura batter.

My main was Lemon Pepper Salmon (£13.50) along with green beans, tenderstem brocoli, baby new potatoes and hot sauce. I liked the addition of the hot sauce; this and the pepper on the salmon made it a tasty dish and I enjoyed how much green was on the plate!

Throughout the evening, I was so impressed with the friendliness of the staff. Each was so happy to talk to us and help us. It was particularly good fun trying out the roulette table.
