New opening: Viva Brazil

Viva Brazil opened with a bang of drums last week. The churrascaria is the latest in a growing number of Viva Brazils across the country. They've taken over another of those gorgeous old banks at the top of Bennett's Hill so they can serve a variety of grilled meats and fish right at your table.

I was there at the opening night thanks to Yelp Brum. Bikini clad stilt walkers made me roll my eyes but I liked the drumming. It's not like these things will be there all the time anyway.

We managed to get in through the door, grab a glass of prosecco and take a look at what they've done with the place.

It's been refurbished in a bright and contemporary way. I think they've gone with colourful nods to carnival rather than an overt BRAZIL theme.

As it was the launch night I didn't really get a good impression of what it would be like. They were serving pre-mixed cocktails but I'm hoping this was just for the busy party. I stuck to prosecco for most of the evening.

There were a few food samples floating round. Usually, the food is all-you-can-eat, with staff going round carving meat directly onto your plate. You can also have seafood which is very appealing. There is also a salad bar which you help yourself to.

The samples were nice enough but the meat was a little salty. It's also not as fun when it isn't being sliced for you! We felt that staff weren't 100% trained up yet as they couldn't tell us what all items were.

I very much like the decoration at Viva Brazil and I will certainly return when they have found their feet.
