May in Food

Bits and bobs I haven't had time to blog about this month.

Barebones Pizza

I went to a fantastic Yelp event a couple of weeks ago, held at the Staying Cool penthouse at the Rotunda. The views from there are fantastic! We drank cider, watched the Eurovision semi-final and ate pizza from Barebones Pizza. I went for chicken and mushroom. The base was deliciously crisp and I loved the creamy cheese too.

Mission Burrito

Mission Burrito opened a new store in Brindley Place last week and to celebrate they gave away 500 Burritos! As I was on half term and bored of writing reports, I headed down to claim my free lunch.

They have a self-serve setup where you choose your fillings. I went for chicken, rice, pinto beans with bacon, sour cream and medium sauce.

They also have tacos and salad bowls.

It was a pretty cool environment to grab a quick and reasonably priced lunch.

Cooking

I made this cod wrapped in parma ham with roasted veg. Recipe from here: http://www.womanmagazine.co.uk/food/roasted-cod-parma-ha-peppers-recipe/

I love roasted veg instead of potatoes- this was such a delicious meal!

Delizie Italiane

On my birthday I headed to Digbeth Dining Club with friends. I had this beautiful arancini ball from the Arancini lady!
I also had tacos from Muy Loco Tacos but didn't get a picture!

The Victoria

The recent Yelp book club was held at The Victoria, just behind the Alexandra Theatre. They do seriously great burgers so I had this blue cheese one. The beef was beautiful- really peppery and perfect with the blue cheese.

New Pimm's Cider Cup

When I first heard about Pimm's Cider Cup I knew I had to try it. I love cider...and I love Pimm's...what could go wrong?
This is a great combination. Sweet and fruity but not sugary, the cucumber really balances the flavours. This is one of my #drinksofthesummer ! (Edd and I are determined to make that hashtag happen!)

Coming soon on the blog:
Cosy Club comes to Birmingham
Marco's New York Italian, Kenilworth
Dim Sum and cocktails at Chung Ying Central
