Foodies Festival was set up in Edinburgh ten years ago and has spread all over the country. 2015 is its first trip to Birmingham (what were they waiting for?!) and will take place from 15th-17th May.
When I first spotted it on Twitter, I did think it looked like an outdoor version of BBC Good Food Show- lots of food stalls with some cookery demonstrations. However I was quickly reassured that it was that and more- lots of street food stalls, live bands and local chefs and producers.
Local chefs include Glynn Purnell, Matt Cheal (Simpsons) and Akhtar Islam (Lasan) who will all be doing cookery demonstrations. Masterchef 2014 winner Ping Coombes will be there too.
There will also be tasting masterclasses including chocolate, raw food and Japanese food which all sound a bit exciting and unusual.
If you're a keen baker there is lots for you, including cooking demonstrations and masterclasses plus stalls selling ingredients and equipment.
I have my eye on the New Wine and Champagne and New Craft Bar Theatres as well as the Street Food Avenue (hoping to see some familiar and local stalls there as well as others I may not know).
The event goes on until 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 6pm on Sunday. In the evenings, there will be live music and pop-up bars and a cider farm. That sounds like a lovely way to round off a day of tasting and buying delicious foods!
