May Challenge Day 28: Something everyone has now

Something everyone has now? My answer is a DRESS!

I'm not really talking about the blogging community here, more about my friends and acquaintances.  I don't recall anyone wearing dresses when I was a teenager- the occasional denim skirt perhaps. I started taking an interest in what I wore when I was 15 or 16 but this amounted to dressing like a boy in the 70s. Flares and faded logo t-shirts! I was at university before I considered dresses as an option for day time and grew to love the freedom and comfort. I wear dresses almost all the time now though I do try to mix it up with separates occasionally. I'm even considering buying some pastel purple jeans!!

Anyway, my point is that a few years ago, people would tell me they 'couldn't' wear a dress, I suppose through some shyness or lack of confidence. And now they all own dresses. I'm glad dresses are as popular as they are because there's lots in the shops. I don't suppose dresses ever went anywhere but they certainly weren't as predominant in the late 90's and early 00's as they are now.

Another thing I could mention is bare legs- for the moment anyway.

I agree! Most women used to live in jeans - even in nightclubs it was jeans wall to wall! Now it's not at all odd for dresses to be worn all day and night too.

Ha that's true, I was such a tom boy when I was younger then started to wear dresses in uni, and my friends started wearing dresses/skirts more. Now it's odd if I wear jeans!

I love this dress! I am the same. I never used to wear dresses when I was a teenager. Which is quite funny because now I am the ultimate girly girl.
