Trendy Stuff: Hippy Hairbands

I really can’t decide how I feel about these hippy hairbands that have been floating round for the past year or so. I see them on starlets such as Mischa Barton and the Olsen twins and I wonder if they were best left in the 70s.

But then I see the cool indie girls wearing brogues on their feet and sequins on their shoulders with woven leather hairbands wrapped round their foreheads and I think: hmm maybe! Their argument was particularly strong when I was in London this weekend, a place where even the most bizarre trends seem possible.
Back home, I’m not so sure. I must admit, I already own a hippy hairband which I’ve never worn. It’s from Accessorize and it’s made up of tiny cream beads. I pulled it over my head and I looked ridiculous. Perhaps I have the wrong shaped head?! Or the wrong haircut. Or perhaps it is actually just a silly trend and I should stick to the proper ones!
This one is £8...EIGHT POUNDS!!! And it looks uncomfortable anyway

This one is kind of cool and disco

This is more me

It's from Accessorize which means it's too expensive for me but ahh... a girl can dream!

I know what you mean... it's all about having the right outfit and overall look... which is a massive effort in itself!
I have a few which I use as regular hairbands when my hair is scraped back. Sometimes I pull them over my head hippie style, but I usually pull most of my hair over it so that only the band is showing round my forehead. Otherwise my head looks very oddly-shaped!

I think it's hit or miss for the hippie hairband... best left to girls with long wavy hair. Love your blog title =]
